Kyoto Imperial Palace

In October 2023, I had a class reunion with some old friends in Kyoto. On that occasion, we went for a morning walk to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, so I’d like to share it with you.

I walked to the Kyoto Imperial Palace from the hotel where I was staying. It was around 7am. The river and nature blended into the city of Kyoto, which is beautiful. Unfortunately, this area is adjacent to Kyoto’s downtown area, and there were drunk people sleeping on the street and trash scattered everywhere, so I felt a little disappointed as I walked there.

Kyoto is a famous tourist destination even outside of Japan, but it’s a shame that it can’t maintain its beauty. What can I do to keep Kyoto beautiful for all those who will visit in the future?

As it was early in the morning, the vast Kyoto Imperial Palace was a beautiful and quiet place. I walked around the grounds for about 15 minutes, and the beautifully trimmed trees and simple buildings that exude a sense of history really gave it the feel of an Emperor’s palace. Combined with the fine weather, I enjoyed the impressive scenery.

There was also a large park at the Kyoto Imperial Palace. Although I didn’t take a photo of it, I was a bit surprised to see that there was an area where you could play baseball. This is the Emperor’s palace after all! I was delighted to see that this place is an integral part of the city of Kyoto and the lives of the people who live there.

It was a very happy walk to experience such a wonderful place.
